For 18 years, I have been a driving force in both youth development and digital learning. First at Global Kids, a NYC-based after school organization, then at the American Museum of Natural History, I oversaw the design, supervision, and creative visioning for a slate of over 100 youth courses on social issues and science topics using cutting-edge emerging media. I’ve taught thousands of NYC youth and facilitated over a thousand hours of youth programming. I excel at developing partnerships for innovative programs that apply the latest technology to engage youth to develop their skills and passions through youth media productions, science learning, and design practices.

At the same time, for 23 years, I have designed pro-social engagement with emerging media. From HTML-based web sites in 1995 to mixed reality and mobile AR gaming today, I've harnessed the educational application of the latest tools within informal learning spaces like schools, libraries, museums and more. In 2009, at a workshop co-lead by IDEO, I was first introduced to design thinking. It was love at first stakeholder map. It set me on a path to introduce user-centric design practices into our youth media design courses. When I arrived at the American Museum of Natural History I was inspired every day to work with youth, outside consultants, and our talented staff to innovate visitor-facing experiences through design practices. Two years ago, the focus of my efforts shifted to running prototyping and evaluations for visitor-facing experiences. Since then we have interviewed over 1,500 visitors and observed around 5,000, surfacing recommendations for designing today for the visitor experience of tomorrow.

In August I will begin a new position at the Girls Scouts, as VP of Digital Experience. And in October my first book will be published, Seltzertopia: The Extraordinary Story of an Ordinary Drink.
