Population Media Center is a social impact entertainment (SIE) content studio. We create entertainment driven by social impact. PMC primarily creates TV and radio shows domestically and abroad. These hit shows have a unique capacity for not only raising awareness among large numbers of people about critical issues such as women’s rights, reproductive health, and girls’ education – but for actually motivating audiences to adopt new behaviors. PMC has impacted more than 500 million people in more than 50 countries around the world.

Not just successful entertainment. Proven Social Results.

In the U.S. market, we develop, finance, and produce original content that addresses contemporary social issues, utilizing diverse formats and genres on traditional network, cable, streaming, and digital platforms.

Our narrative focus is in addressing the broad, complex, and infinitely interesting areas of women’s empowerment, human rights, and environmental sustainability. Of course, these issues are just part of the diverse spectrum of real-world situations and environments that Americans experience on a daily basis. Life is not simple, so our stories aren’t either.
We have progressive sensibilities, a national perspective – and a laser focus on storytelling for social good.

We value great entertainment and building powerful narratives. Our characters are authentic and multi-dimensional, based on in-depth research into a particular issue or area of interest. But our journey to a great story always follows one guiding star: to empower people to live healthier and more prosperous lives.

Population Media Center ‘s multi-Emmy Award® nominated series, East Los High, rose to be one of the top five shows on Hulu during its first season. This series proves it’s possible to gain critical acclaim, ratings – and social outcomes. This groundbreaking series, known affectionately to its loyal viewers as “ELH," ran on Hulu for five seasons, from 2013 to 2017, and garnered six Daytime Emmy ™ nominations. The series, a modern-day teen telenovela about a fictional Latinx high school, was innovative, addictive and hugely popular.

Our aim is to continue to create original series that will both entertain and impact the hearts and minds of viewers to think in new and different ways about some of the most difficult issues we face as Americans today, for years to come.
