Dr. Karen Schrier

Associate Professor & Director of Games
Dr. Karen Schrier is Associate Professor/Director of Games at Marist College. Prior, she worked at Scholastic, Nickelodeon, and BrainPOP. She’s been researching and designing games for 15+ years, making one of the first AR games. She’s the editor of the Learning, Education & Games book series (ETC Press) and co-editor of books on games and ethics. She’s written/edited 80+ publications, including Knowledge Games (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2016). From 2018-2019, she served as a Belfer Fellow for ADL’s Center for Technology & Society, where she researched games and empathy. Dr. Schrier holds degrees from Columbia University, MIT, and Amherst College.
